Prince with a Thousand Enemies

1. The First Cow

enchanted by sunlight and moonlight.
immortality is in the size of the dog
who barks at the farmhouse door.

2. The Second Cow

a ravine full of thorns and sharp stones.
hold this gloomy heart in your hand to warm it.
the great white bull waits at the end of the nothing.

3. The Third Cow

time itself.
begin inside the body.
this is no one’s birth but your own.

4. In a Gnarled Wood

the moon rabbit
has gone tharn
under the hole in the sky.
